This course is an introduction to the civilisations of classical Greece and Rome. The course incorporates history, literature and art from these periods, most of which is the very foundation of our culture and society in present day New Zealand.  It involves the study of areas including the Olympian Gods, Sparta, Trojan War, how the Romans lived, as well as many other areas. Classical Studies enables students to think critically about the world around them, make links between the past and the influence it has on them today, gather, classify and analyse evidence, judge opposing opinions and present conclusions appropriately.
