Level 2 History

Course Description

Students study a range of topics drawn from New Zealand and World history. These topics and studies aim to improve skills in gathering and classifying information, weighing evidence, recognising bias and propaganda, recognising differing points of view and different historical interpretations.  Recognising cause and effect, forming judgements and making generalisations based on evidence and sound argument and presenting material which is accurate, logical, concise and clear are also skills taught in History. Following on from Level 1 History, the major research component at this level, worth 9 credits, involves students researching different historic movements or a significant event and writing up or displaying their findings.  The theme for this year is ‘Thinking like a Historian’.
