The Top of the South Trades Academy is structured around the school year and students attend NMIT or Whenua Iti for one day a week along with students from other Colleges. Places in the Academy are limited and students need to demonstrate a commitment to on-going learning and have the support of their families, caregivers and whānau to undertake the programme. Students will study Trades and five other options.
Current Trades Academies (2020) are:
NCEA Level 1 literacy and numeracy are required. After application, students are interviewed by the College Coordinator(s), who then recommend students to the Top of the South Trades Academy.
At time of compiling courses for 2021 every effort has been made to ensure the information contained online is accurate. However, it is possible that some course/assessment structures will be subject to change.
All courses are dependent on student numbers and staffing. Students will be advised if the school is unable to provide the subjects they select.
