This course is made up of three units of work. The first familiarizes students with basic textile construction techniques and processes using commercial patterns, building on the learning in Year 10. This course builds on the learning from year 10 and further develops skills and techniques before going on to three larger units of work. The first teaches how to properly set up, adjust, and operate the sewing machine before exploring and investigating the properties of various materials. The final internal will be writing a brief and developing an outcome suitable. There will be opportunity to read commercial patterns and make a garment.
Note: This course has the same assessments as Level 1 Technology. If students choose to study both of these courses, some alternative standards may be available. If not, the credits attained are counted once.
